Some places the speed limit is 70 or 80, doing a 100 is only 20 miles per hour over. This is insane and it will be abused by law enforcement

Here’s a news break for you Mr. Top Gun – public highways aren’t your race track. Speed limits are determined by engineers as safe traveling speeds for a range of legal drivers. Despite what you think – not everyone is a NASCAR Driver or a F-35 wanna-be pilot. SUVs with kids, large trucks, trucks with trailers, mail trucks and never ending road construction are speed limiters. How many DEAD drivers and passengers have you seen cut out of the car by the Jaws of Life? How about burned bodies that had to be identified by dental records? I saw what was left of 4 high school students that were trying to break the sound barrier, and hit a tree. Broadside. Car became a horse shoe. Kids were scooped out for closed casket funerals. If you want to hot dog your car – take it to the track. Cars may be better but the drivers are not.

How is this draconian? 50 over is crazy. It should have been 30. If you are doing 95 in a 45 zone, the penalties SHOULD be steep. You are playing games with the lives of everyone around you. People are crazy.

Florida claims to be some freedom state, but makes so much money off of insanely low speed limits and draconian laws. Cars are better than they have ever been, but the speed limits don’t change, they even go down. Years ago they tried to make racing a felony, and it was thrown out.

How about instead of speeding, make dumbass drivers move out of the left lane, actually enforce morons driving with no head lights, and how about dui stuff be more than some formality.
