I made an A+ in economics 101, skipped finals;; I do not know where all these many new residents are comming from or how they earn their living, but I do know that there are only just a certain number of emplyment positions in this county? How do these people generate/recieve their income?

Not all of these new arrivals work at Navy Federal, and not all are reciving entitlements? I fell that I speak with great precision, when I say that this ain't the Class of 2025 fueling this growth. It would be interesting to see all the data on these people, where they are fleeing from, occupations, income, family size ect?.

TH is as bad as they come. He will get what he wants but one day he will meet his maker. Shocking how many people in escambia know everything about everything. Very shocking… I would think the median income would be higher here with so many know it alls.

My parents bought a Thomas Henry home and they were promised sidewalks among other things but he never followed through with those promises. I have friends who bought homes from Thomas Henry and the same thing happened to them. Our schools, hospitals and roads cannot handle more people. This is a terrible idea!!!

@Tracy, please document the last time ANY schools in that area were on lockdown due to a prisoner "walking off" from that facility. The inmates at that particular place are actually well disciplined with few exceptions. Many are learning a trade for the first time in their lives and it's one of the more successful inmate programs out there. I think the citizens of that area should be more concerned about traffic issues and school overcrowding than the inmates being across the street. We can barely navigate 297a during the morning and afternoon "rush" now and both 297a AND 97 are nothing short of race tracks most any given hour of the day. More people out there with no support from an already overstressed law enforcement will be nothing short of a disaster but the county only sees dollar signs of pocket-padding coming their way from developers promising grandeur. Stop the developments PLEASE!

Anything that prevents the road prison from expanding is a bad thing . Those low level offenders learn different trades and agricultural skills . The Camp 5 road prison produces most of their own food and used to be self sufficient . Don’t cramp them . As Escambia County population grows so does the their criminal population .

For all who are worried about the prison aspect next door, the inmates their are offenders but low security level offenders, the real bad boys are locked up at the main jail. Know the custody levels before commenting. This is not century correctional. The thing to worry about is the infrastructure in this area far as safety.

Rafael,
The Sector Plan required higher development standards including sidewalks/multi-use paths with new subdivisions built but Steven Barry has championed every developer opting out of the approved plan for free.
This development isn't necessarily in the Mid-West Sector Plan but even where it was required, Mr. Barry helped developers avoid supplying them (and streetlights.)

Development is exploding in District 5 and very few of the new subdivisions have sidewalks or multi-use paths to avoid the increasing traffic.
I agree that we should require them to make the area safer and walkable, but like road infrastructure, it is always an after (or never) thought.

This is a terrible idea. Anyone that has lived in this area for any length of time knows the infrastructure is a disaster. Not to mention living that close to the road prison. Prisoners walk off the job on a regular basis causing all sorts of lockdowns at schools, fear in the community, and countless police searches for the absconders. County Commissioners please do the right thing.
