I would bet on the former, rather than the latter. Sometimes things have to be settled out of court, with a binding mandate. If this killer manages to escape punishment of/by the judiciary or moral elements, he may feel no remorse for his victim, but he will always be looking over his sholder, in regard to/for himself. No one escapes the Judement Of Christ, and the punishment of God. Prayers for peace in heart and mind.
