So yes batteries can catch fire but most happen from accidents or defects we keep lithium batteries in our homes in cell phones and other electronics that catch fire more than an EV does and it's rare still. But as a mechanic combustion cars can catch fire as well in fact they are 20 times more likely to catch fire than an EV. Also stated above that they will not be stored on site anyway I get it some people worry out of fear of what they don't know and other just hate cause it's not social excepted among their peers. The olive road service station is not a grave yard for teslas yes there are some that are there to be repaired but they also have teslas for sale, loaners and demo units. I've had a tesla for over 2 years now all I've had to have replaced was a charge door. If you don't like tesla then don't shop at tesla just like a chevy guy most likely won't shop at ford and a ford guy most likley won't shop at chevy.

@Jack H

Actually, the batteries rarely ever need to be replaced as they typically last the life of the vehicle, around 200-250k miles. They don't keep batteries sitting around just like traditional dealerships don't keep crate engines sitting around. I'm sure they will be repairing other minor things though, like suspension parts and infotainment stuff.

Wondering if they'll have multiple charging stations for these vehicles?
Seems we see a few places downtown and other places for charging yet few of these energy suckers hooked up.
Do they hire mechanics or electricians for the shop?
I like dinosaur juice....

@JackH .... it's a safety issue. God forbid if one of the batteries catch on fire, they all catch on fire, destroying the building, which also hurts all the other businesses in that connected shopping center. Having batteries stores off site helps protect all those businesses. I know of a couple tire shops that keeps tires off site. When someone needs a certain tire, they drive a few miles to their warehouse. It's fairly common and nothing out of the ordinary - especially when these batteries can weigh 1,000+ pounds and take up tons of space.

Help me understand how you can service an electric car and not have any batteries stored on site? Is that not the number 1 thing that needs replacement on a routine basis? Don't the cars have batteries and won't they also be stored on site, prior to sale and service? This doesn't make any sense.
