Olin Schultz, $4.4 Million is a band aid for the length of roadway and proposed improvements. when was the last time you estimated this type of work?

Henry Coe, remember that the county has no say so as far as Beulah Road is concerned. It is a State Road now that our last Commissioner decided to trade the State for a piece of road over in Perdido Key. I guess this is throw away money that D.O.T. Has to play with. I don’t understand how 4.4 million can be just thrown away when they are saying that in two years, that the Beulah Beltway should begin. I agree that because of all the large truck traffic, Beulah Road is starting to fall apart but I can’t see that much money being spent for a bandaid until the big project begins.

looking at the funded future plan for beulah rd and the exit ti I-10 plans,it does not make sense to do all these improvements and tear it back out again.repaving north of 9-mile,yes,that is needed, unless the improvements conform to the later plans of the 4-laning of beulah

Are they going to make these improvements in conjunction with plans for an internet spur coming from I-10 to Beulah Rd or are they going the wait and build the spur in a few years and then re work this project all over again?
I know when it comes to roads, long term planning isn't something Escambia County has a history of doing very well but along with the spur the intersection of Frank Reeder and Beulah Rd absolutely needs improvements and if we are looking at 1 1/2 of construction traffic on Beulah Rd then we should probably have a new road cutting through OLF-8 from 9 Mile to Frank Reeder Rd with a light and we absolutely need alight at Rebel Rd and 9 Mile. Really. Just do it.
