I was arrested two months before my 16th birthday in March 1994 and released in September 2003. My father had passed the previous January. I had never before seen a cellular phone. Heck, if you had a home computer you were somebody. The system had not prepared me for the changes in technology or the world. How to drive a car, fill out a job application, write a check, etc. I fact, from 1999 until my release, I was held in solitary confinement with only an hour per week outside in a dog kennel scaled up for humans. Yet I deserved every bit of it. I must say that I faced some pretty adverse conditions that didn't favor my chances of making it in society. However, I did make it. It's all based upon your attitude and how you choose to respond to things. It pains me to hear people with criminal history make excuses as to why they can't do this or that. To go further, I have held several jobs in different fields and all of them paid me at least twice what the areas male median salary is. Perhaps the excuses are just laziness. If you don't already have a restraining order on your nephew, get one asap. Make sure you all have the means to protect yourselves otherwise and finally, pray for protection. I believe the Court System will eventually be forced to get tougher on crime but as citizens, we can't give up the fight for getting that done. Like, throw suspended license drivers in(30-300 days) Drivers with no insurance(10-30days) ad a few years if an accident is involved. Drug related could be transferred from our new county jail. Converting hospital might be cheaper. Get the car insurance companies to help pay the remodel . Companies are paying $MILLIONS ON UNINSURED AS IT IS. Less than a week out and he is again harassing my mother daily on her phone and has threatened to kill my brother. Law Enforcement does an excellent job, but our judicial system and department of corrections fail society.
