People are living in sheds, turned into a living area, and campers, due to the very fact that houses are way too expensive. I am lucky. I bought my place back in 1995, a custom built home on five, totally fenced in acres for $93,000. Even though my home burnt down in 2001, due to aluminum wiring, I had to buy a double wide, cause I couldn't afford to build another home. Thankfully, the double wide was only $63,000. Which I've have since paid off. CW. People are living in sheds, turned into a living area, and campers, due to the very fact that houses are way too expensive. I am lucky. You can get a shed delivered and pay $500 a month for 600 square feet, or about 15k upfront. I did one for a family member in Alabama. It cost 5k for me to do electrical, insulation, drywall and plumbing. So for $20k, they have their own place. Alabama is super friendly to tiny homes like that. You can see them routinely in mobile home and camper parks. Even florida is warming up to the idea. At least one of the corrections officers in century lives in a converted shed on state property.
