2 pits within less than a .10th of mile and in a bad curve with a hill. Thats a great idea with low moving trucks in both direction.

Didnt know of lawsuit. I was there at 2 of those 3 meetings, wasnt notified on one of them. Neighbor and I each have wells. Anytime you dig down below the surface, you can disturb the water tables below.
Lawsuit? BOCC didnt denigh the pit?

JJ… No, this is NOT the same borrow pit that’s been denied 3 times through the BOA, it’s up off of 95a. That 53 acre parcel is surrounded by numerous residents. Ironhorse Services (Anthony “Justin” Patterson) is the owner of the land and the Shortleaf Borrow Pit within the Wedgewood Community. After the third denial , he filed a lawsuit against the BOCC. It’s public record and can be accessed through the online court documents.

@ John Connor — its not the County that is holding up the Costco deal. After meeting with County officials in July 2024 for their pre-application meeting, it took to the end of October for Costco to submit their actual building plans and pay for the permits.It shouldnt be much longer before this is scheduled before the Development Review Committee. In looking at the progress of other projects, this project appears to be moving forward in a timely manner.

It’s funny how quick Escambia County moves to approve a big hole in the ground but when it comes to Costco with hundreds of good paying jobs, NOTHING!! All this county is, is burrow pits, bad roads, poor housing plan, and starbucks.

Let’s do some math… 4×92= 368 so you’d be happy with 368 houses built instead. Heck let’s give the owners a bit more “land” how about 276 houses on that land? And lets take it a step further, all of those houses have 2 cars each… so an extra 552 vehicles on 97. But no lets cry about the 10+ local CDL dump truck drivers that use the road. It’s hardly ever them that cause the accidents.

I live within a few mile of this location. My water table is at 48 feet. If they had drilled down a few more feet they would have found the water table. Anything they do on that site will infiltrate the water table.

Is this the same people that tried to get a pit in on 95A.
Tried 3 meetings. I thought the county law has to notify anyone within 1000′. Putting the concerns on well owners to!

Is this the best they can do with 92 acres? It seems to me the Molino area attract non-productive land use.
