Heres a city,county and state idea
Move the airport towards NW Escambia county north of Hiway 97 and west of 29. 4-5 square miles should do.
Turn old airport to commercial and runways etc to housing (apartments etc)
Denver and Dallas took these steps and worked great

North part of town is the way to grow. East you go into Santa Rosa, west you’re in Alabama and south you’re in the water. Pretty soon no rural.

Anne, we have a bridge that runs North/South over Nine mile on Hwy 29 I assume you mean a bridge running West/East over the railroad track between Chemstarnd and Old Palafox? Also, none of the new development mentioned here is near that area it’s near Pine Forest and Nine mile.

LOL, bridge over the 9 mile RR TRACKS.
SHOULD HAVE BUILT THE BRIDGE AT THE RR TRACKS IN FRONT OF THE PAPER MILL 60 YEARS AGO
I dont recall the train stopping at 9 mile road as it does for the paper mill

Pensacola is moving it’s population to this area. Nothing will stop progress, but a bridge running over 9 mile so that we can get where we are going without traffic lights and the railroad needs to be constructed right now.
