There are millions more cars on the roads now than when the interstates were conceived and begun during Eisenhower's presidency. When I was growing up, each family had one car. In my current neighborhood two cars per household is a rarity; it's more like three or four vehicles, often with all of them in the driveway in front of three-car garages. Add to that the fact that all these plans and proposals creep along during the funding process in Congress. Any wonder why they're years behind in coming to fruition? When they're finished they're already outdated. I agree with “given me a break” here.
