Help that doesn’t include giving panhandlers cash money? Sure. By giving them money for them standing around with a sign it makes them learn that they can get paid for doing it. Then you get ones like the guy(s) around Fairfield & Mobile Hwy who walk around holding up 1-3 fingers approaching direct to your vehicle looking in at you like they’re waiting to be noticed & paid based on sympathy.

I will not *ever* give anyone money again for standing around holding signs or begging. I got tired of doing so and watching them spend it on booze or drugs.
If you’re hungry I will feed you. If thirsty I’ll buy you water/soda/juice. Thats it.

Another point to mention is they congregate at certain areas leaving piles of trash. I’d happily provide large black trash bags for them to fill up if they care to clean up their “areas” but they can’t be bothered with it. They’d rather hold their signs for pity.

So yeah you can “help the homeless whenever we can” but please don’t include just giving them money.
