Allow me to speculate as well. See,this is why I won’y ride with anyone who hasn’t been in a wreck before: They have NO idea how fast a wreck can happen, and how devastating a wreck is. AND,they don’t;do what those of us who HAVE been ( I was a passenger in a head n collision and went though the windshield and had my thumb torn off) : The don’t expect, nor have a plan for any contingencies on that road. And, there are a BUNCH of places where there can suddenly be a stalled car or someone backing out of their driveway, or someone on a bike or walking.

A couple of months ago a man was in the middle of the road, trying to stop people, to get a ride or carjack or something. BY the time we went slowly by ( head stopped traffic) he spoke to me.He said,”Don’t worry,I won’t spit on you.Hey, are you a cop?”

Anyway, when I drive 97, I’m always expecting, going over ALL those hills, with those signs,”Hill blocks view”, that SOMETHING could possibly be in the road,, over that hill, even if it’s a dog, or deer. SO, I slow down, and am prepared to do a hard stop, or take the ditch.

Folks who have NOT been in a wreck don’t know the dangers, They just barrel down the road, many at 65MPH, , not even thinking that something possibly could be stopped or in the road, over that next hill.
