Worked with Mel in the late 70s when the station (WKRG) was located at 158 St. Louis Street. I remember working “Hurricane Coverage” during Hurricane Frederick in 1979 with Mel…. Great guy!

I had the pleasure of meeting Mel through my wife, who worked with him at WKRG back when it was a family-owned close-knit business and we played together on the station’s promo basketball team. He was a great guy to be around. And although older than the rest of us, he still had some smooth moves on the court! RIP Mel.
