Baylen and found an open parking space without a meter so we parked at 107 S Baylen..walked 2 blocks to the court house , registered our deed and was back to our car in 50 minutes...to see a $25 parking violation ticket under our windshield wiper...I mailed the copy of our ticket with a $25 check and explained that this ticket was undeserved and that the city of Pensacola will not be seeing this Molino/ Barrineau Park resident for another 10 years..Cantonment, Fl and Atmore, Alabama will be getting my money from now on! If You download the App it shows that the rates are not the same for all areas, so that tells Me that if You want a good safe area to park You are going to have to pay for it. I work downtown and it's going to cost Me $60/month to park...geez what a racket! They don't want us there, this is why many festivals now require you to pay admittance. No free parking is just another way to say, you aren't rich enough to be here. $1 or $10 keep out, you are unwanted. The parking meters caused people to stop going downtown then, and started shopping at the malls. Downtown became a ghost town. The politicians just don't get it! Greed will certainly destroy a town. Guess what, there are strip malls on every corner that has free parking. People will be finding other places to eat and shop, and the homeless will have downtown all to themselves. My husband and I loved going downtown to eat and shop often, but the paid parking will change that. I am truly sorry. This is exactly what happened in the 70’s.
