I know it’s legal to pass a car that is waiting to make a left turn. With ever increasing traffic it will get worse and worse unless everybody is becoming more courteous. Impatient drivers pass on the grass strip to the right while traffic is lined up behind a car waiting to make a left turn. cars will shear out from the traffic behind – and fly by the waiting vehicle, especially when the vehicle waiting to turn is pulling a trailer or boat and needs a long enough break in traffic to go across.

What was improper about the semi truck driver’s turn? Did he not have the turn signal on? I agree with Rusty, the driver of the pickup truck should have waited and had patience. Most accidents could be prevented if people could just be more patient with each other.

Anyone turning left is required to yield right of way to traffic in both directions. Florida Statute for reference:

316.122 Vehicle turning left.—The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction, or vehicles lawfully passing on the left of the turning vehicle, which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard. A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Just like the bus driver that hit the guy on the tractor. Tractor operator was at fault because he turned left in front of the bus as it was legally passing him.
