I know for one, I would have loved to be on this council at one time, but I now see that unless everyone currently in their office were removed there is no help for this governing body. I had so much excitement moving to Century 4 years ago, I inquired about the town clerk position when it was vacated. I met with Ben Boutwell the Mayor at the time and then soon learned that the old clerk was coming back. I decided at that moment there was no hope for new blood in this town, bringing back people that left the position shows that the town of Century is not forward minded. I would never want to be a part of the “circus show” that we have in power and unfortunately, I do not see anything changing going forward, same ole people, same ole government. Century has so much potential but with the business minds of Gomez and his board we have no hope.

Most times when a politician is elected un-opposed it means that they are doing a good job, and probably would be hard to beat. In the case of Century it means the opposite; Century is so screwed up that nobody wants any part of trying to straighten it out. One could get elected to this council with the best of intentions and qualifications and would be overwhelmed by the lunacy that prevails on this board. At this point, the only possible solution to fixing TOC is for the legislature to revoke their charter and turn all the services over to somebody that can handle them. Above all, rep Saltzman needs to quit handing them taxpayer money to throw away.

Besides, I think highly of Pam Childers and Scott Lunsford.

I assume you don’t have good thoughts regarding May. He is one of the reasons I left Escambia county. I have zero idea how his district runs from Downtown all the way to Ensley but it does. I have seen the man in action and personally I do not like the man and Escambia would be better served if he wasn’t in office.

As many people that come to this site to complain about Century, none of you will stand up and be accountable to make things better.

And if you don’t live in Century and just like to dunk on it, you’re part of the problem.

Maybe dissolve the Town, maybe keep it– it is up to the citizens and the State.

Something has to change, obviously.
