Young teenager…all by himself having fun..guess he realized now a car isn’t a toy. Lucky for him he didn’t kill anyone. Drivers Ed might not be so bad..see some real footage of seriously injured people.

@fisherman … my teenage daughter rear-ended someone on her 16th birthday (8 years ago). My premiums went through the roof. It was a simple accident too. Nothing like this story.

Should be strict enforcement on teen drivers. I was a kid once I know all about taking driving for granted snd ignoring the traffic rules. Heck, just visit any whataburger after midnight and you have 16-17 year old kids driving up knowing full well it’s against the law.

SO, this kid was charged for BLATANT reckless driving. The last kid, or others, could have had a catastrophic failure with their vehicle.

Shannon, yes they need to bring back drivers Ed but it doesn’t just start and stop there. It also falls on the parents that help their children pass their license requirements by just a couple examples, child taking online test and gets help passing test and by not requiring their children to drive the hours they’re required to drive before getting their license. I know that for a fact from hearing about it from others and my own children. I made my children drive the required hours with different road conditions, different times of the day and evening and we kept up with the lothe log book. Are they perfect drivers? No but they had experiences and we, their dad and I did not just turn them loose.

The difference in accidents is the other vehicle stopped and then proceeded thru the sign. That driver didn’t yield the right of way. This accident has witnesses stating the driver of the Honda never stopped and just by how fast he was going he didn’t stay within the intersection or 45 feet he was closer to 500 feet from the impact if not further. This alone shows the excessive speed of his vehicle which is why he has a a ticket for wreckless driving as well as a ticket for running the stop sign.This instance the harsh penalty is needed and maybe it will save lives.

Another teen lost his life this same way a few months back & the person wasn’t charged at all. Same stop sign, same situation.. they should all be harshly punished as us that travel with our kids don’t deserve to suffer a loss from immature drivers. & a slap on the wrist isnt going to open their eyes.

Actions like this cannot be defended he made a decision that could have been deadly for all involved by the Grace of God it was not any worse then it was. He should be held responsible for all damages, medical bills and damage to state property and should be banned from driving for life
