Did you know that over 20 of the 55 facilities have staffing shortages in the double digits? Would you work in an environment that was short staffed, lacked a/c, required excessive amount of over time and was a high stress environment? DOC has an immediate need of $2.2 billion in facilities, basics like plumbing, electrical, windows, parking, security, roofs, flooring, lock controls, wastewater treatment, lighting and so on. Would you work there? Ask your Legislator why they only supported a mere $100 million of a $2.2 billon immediate need for facilities. If you want to lock people up for crimes, then you need to provide a safe place for an Officer to work. Incidents like this should not happen!! Additionally, this inmate was placed in confinement without his pleasantries, and then the entirety of the dorm was placed on lock down due to the assault.
