I’m not entirely sure I’d take that deal. We’re talking $1,650.00 in three installments which would be on years 1, 3 & 5. That’s not a lot to be locked into a contract.

Escambia County offers wages comparable to Mississippi not actual Florida. Look at Santa Rosa the lowest employee makes 16.04$ an hr in Escambia the lowest employee makes 13.15$ an hr. That is complete garbage for a county job. Then you take Paramedic pay in Escambia pays roughly 42k a year. That is bottom tier of any county in the United States. In Santa Rosa it’s over 53k and Okaloosa over 55k. Meanwhile the County Commissioners of Escambia County make over 170k a year. Let tgat sink in, people who do nothing but sit in a chair and mess up the OLF deal constantly make over 70$ an hr. The people who save lives barely make over 20$. Heck the detention employees at the jail only make 14.25$ an hr. Gas stations pay more. ESCAMBIA COUNTY pay ypur employees and stop giving raises to Commissioners!

When I saw a $5,000 bonus being offered I thought,”the pay must be pretty low”.

Instead of offering sign on bonuses, they need to increase hourly wages. Why would anyone go to school to be a paramedic when they can be a nurse and make 2 or 3 times more? Nobody wants to be a paramedic anymore because the pay is terrible.
