@Mike J, where does it say it took two years to recover the vehicle? It took two years to serve the warrants. Also addresses that are presented are not verified and usually if they’re renting a truck they are moving. And when a vehicle has not been returned to a rental company, wether it’s a car or furniture or appliances, the rental company has to wait a certain amount of time and jump through hoops to satisfy the state before filing a report, they don’t have the option of making a report a day or two later after the date of return has passed. I imagine this is because this agreement borders on a civil side.

Wait, it took 6 months for U-Haul to report the truck as stolen? Then it took 2 YEARS to find the truck and arrest Ms. Barnes? I have rented these trucks before and all that paperwork you sign and proof of identity confirms your address, etc. The records should have been clear on the rental agreement. The people at the U-Haul location are not being good with their inventory tracking and coordinating with law enforcement. I hope for their sake that they improve their lack of efficiency.
