It’s probably because of the idiot drivers merging onto an interstate at 40mph, causing vehicles to erratically change lanes or brake hard. Widening has nothing to do with it.

I drive that stretch almost every day and I can promise you that the road isn’t the problem. It’s people not paying attention, looking at their phones, lane weaving trying to pass because it seems like 85 mph is the new 70. Then you’ve got the ones that crowd the left lane doing 10 -15 UNDER the speed limit creating congestion behind them with constant speed up’s and slow down’s. The list goes on and on. Widening a road won’t fix the fact that people suck at driving. Put the phones down, pay attention, and stop tailgating the person in front of you thinking it’ll get you to your destination faster, and drive the speed limit. Also, if you’re being passed on the right, you’re in the wrong lane. Move over.

Nevertheless, prayers for all involved in this accident and a full recovery for this woman.

It can be difficult to achieve in heavy traffic and when other drivers cut you off. But that is the minimum goal to achieve for a safe driving distance.

Also, half of the time to bring a vehicle to a full stop is the reaction time from the moment a red tail light appears to the time your foot first touches the brake pedal.

We really need a red light there! That’ll fix it!!

Contrary to popular belief, widening roads and adding red lights doesn’t stop wrecks. They really need to put a “No Text Zone” sign on that stretch of I10! Oh wait….

This segment of I 10 seriously needs to be widened. The area is becoming more suburban with all the growth in area. There is too much traffic on that road.

They needed to widen that stretch of I 10 10 years go. The longer they sit on it the worse it’s going to get. Now they are starting the US 29 interchange rebuild it will be a hot mess of traffic jams for the next 6 years.
