We had one on one swim sessions at the Atmore Country Club where my parents were members and avid golfers ! I was embarrassed because I was 12 yrs old did not know how to swim ! Carl was very sweet and patient with me ! He gave me confidence that I could overcome my fear of the water ! In no time flat I was swimming abd to this day I thank Carl for his patience and encouragement to suppress my fears and he taught me his to do that! Years later when I knew him as an adult , my friend Linda Irwin and I wouid drive to Atmore and meet Carl andGrace for dinner ! These were good times! Went to events honoring Carl and his accomplishments ! He was a legend in his time and we Loved him ! He will be missed by many !! Thank you Carl for being my teacher !!
