Pulling people over for reckless driving, cruising in the passing lane, and speeding. I realize people do not want light pollution in the country but when you have a main road taking you to the interstate that has fatalities every week on a pitch black road at night, light is needed!!! It would be nice if they’d finally finish the worn out pothole patrol paved east side of Highway 196 (Barrineau Park road). A school bus driver recently told me that she has to get over in the grass when she meets a dump truck for the safety of the kids! It amazes me that barely used Schagg road between Hwy 196 and 95A was recently resurfaced before Quintette and the ignored east Hwy 196! I was told by my county commissioner that Schagg was graded/scored on the system they use to be needier than Hwy 196 and even Quintette at the time. If you traveled Schagg road before it was resurfaced you can decide for yourself. When it comes to the safety of our kids I wish these elected officials would develop a conscience and do what’s right. Several weeks ago east Hwy 196 was restriped and new centerline reflectors were added. One would assume there are no plans to repave it any time soon. I guess they needed that $ for another watershed study. Supposedly the county has agreed to extend west Quintette over Hwy 29 to access the huge subdivision that isn’t welcome or needed. Lets take proper care of the roads we have before we build another road for wealthy developers that they should pay for themselves! I can’t wait for the next election.
