THERE ARE CAMERAS ALL ALONG I110 & I10 . IMAY BE WRONG THOUGHT WAS BEING MONITORED 24/7 TO ALERT &GET CARS STOPPED . PPD&ESO HAVE ALOT OFFICERS . I KNOW CANT BE EVERY WHERE . THEY SHOULD HAVE FILM OF THIS CAR GETTING ON & WRECK HAPPENING . PRAYERS FOR ALL FAMILIES. p.s. NOT PUTTINGDOWN POLICE . I’ve been telling people for years that on divided highways they should stay in the right lane because wrong way drivers will be in the left lane. Some will say, Oh I didn’t know that. Several have told me they drive in the left lane because they are less likely to hit a deer in that lane. Then I tell them in my 55 years of driving, I’ve hit 3 or 4 deer, my vehicles suffer some damage, but I’ve never been injured when I hit one. I’ll take hitting a deer any day over hitting another vehicle.

Although the story does not specify where the wrong way driver entered I-110, it would not surprise me if it were at Maxwell/Jordan Exit 3. The entrances to I-110 are poorly signed. In fact, there is only one interstate shield pointing out the northbound entrance (located on NB Hayne Street between Jordan and Maxwell). There are no I-110 shields on Davis, Jordan, Maxwell, or MLK.

Additionally, the Hayne SB/NB system (which parallels much of the I-110 viaduct as dual one way streets) along with the one way systems of Maxwell and Jordan only add to the complexities of I-110 Exit 3. Add in the ridiculous palmetto landscaping at the Maxwell off-ramp and corner, and the privacy fence blocking the SB Hayne and Jordan intersection, and it’s a recipe for traffic debacles.

This is a combination of FDOT and City of Pensacola problem, and it needs to be evaluated and fixed.

Wrong way driver warning signals are presently being installed on all off-ramps on I-110 at this time. All one can do is wonder if that would have made a difference in this event.

Rest in Peace, Ford driver, though he caused the accident. Stay in the right lane when not passing because your left lane is the right lane of a wrong-way driver. Prayers to the Chevy driver in the hospital with serious injuries on Christmas.

Perhaps you are unaware alcohol was prohibited in this nation once before. The unintended consequences were disastrous. By 1929 Al Capone was worth about 31 million dollars. In today’s money that amount is staggering. When the Prohibition Act was passed it created the largest organized crime syndicate ever seen, and still exists today. When passed the criminal element could not believe their good fortune.

How about Painting Arrows on the roadways “Ramps”, indicating the direction of travel??? Just wondering if it might help. We don’t read Information and Regulatory Signs (ONLY SPEED), I’m not the expert.
