If you fall between the income limit cracks because you worked all your life and saved for your old age there are no freebies whatsoever offered. you not only pay for every item and service - you are stuck with scammers that will take every opportunity to take advantage. home or car repairs - a nightmare! Some of these grants should be made available to hire an ombudsman of some sort - to handle or at least have some supervision over services that people over a certain age limit need to continue living independently. It’s very discouraging - you know you are being ripped off - but need their help I agree with Lou‘s comment.
