I'm guessing this is not a net figure and doesn't account for the fact that so many teachers have been leaving the profession over the past few years. With so many leaving, there is obviously going to be a scramble to hire replacements, but that doesn't mean there are more jobs in the field overall. I could be wrong - maybe I'm missing something.
