The US has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. Our prisons are already overflowing. Maybe we should take a critical look at our society and address the root causes of crime instead of just continually making prison sentences longer?

This may stir up the situation but is my opinion. I am not here to debate.
LEO needs backup! They arrest the THUGS and the court system slaps their hand then sends them back on the street. They see there is little to no consequences for their actions so thy go do the same and more next time. Give thugs punishment that will make them think before doing another crime as soon as they are released.
The Court System needs an overhaul. While we are at it; take a look at the prison system and what goes on inside. That includes all the way down though the half-way houses.
This has to bee done through our Elected Officials and us as Citizens.
The next time you get to vote, do not mark mark the box because you recognize the name. Look at their record. If it is poor, vote for one who is for Law And Order

@22 year vet of USMC, first off thank you for your service to our country. Secondly, I’m very surprised that with your experience, you think guns won’t go off without pulling the trigger. My Makarov is known to fire when dropped and this which is why I don’t carry it even though it’s my favorite. A few years ago the Army’s chosen service pistol had an issue with it. Sig Sauer P320 which a lot of LEO were carrying have issues with that and revolvers, especially some Colts have issues. It depends on the gun how likely this is to happen but it definitely can happen.

Atmore is yet another community becoming an unfit place to raise children.

When communities have crime rates like this, neighborhoods become fortresses. Property owners will begin to not just fence in their yards, but also wall them off. Windows and doors will be barred and gated, respectively. Attracting business and new residents will become a struggle.

Given the amount of violent crime, one has to question what Atmore’s future looks like.
