Thinking of buying a home down the road from Tate high school but property tax is $7500. This is crazy!! We will move to Santa Rosa as more and more will avoid Escambia Co and people will move out.. it that anyone cares but we are one of many families. Something should be done about this..

@North of I-10

Yes, Bill Slayton is up for reelection in 2024. District 5 currently has 2 candidates that have pre-filed for this seat. Scott Taylor and Josh Luther are the current candidates as of today 8/4/2023. Not sure if anyone else will file but there is a start if Slayton retires or decides to run again, he won't be running solo.

15% of 322,000 = 48,300 school age children
$740,000,000.00 / 48,300 students = 15,320.00/student

Using RaD's #'s...
$740,000,000.00 / 50,000 students = $14,800.00/student

Approximately 22% of residents are children 0-18. 15% of them are school age. With a population of 322,000, that comes to right at 50,000 students. $740M divided by 50,000 is $13,700 per student.
