You’re at a party where people are drinking alcohol. One of the partygoers pulls out some meth. The choice is yours, but going to a party with alcohol left you that choice. Is alcohol a gateway drug?

You go to work in the morning. The coffee machine is broken, but one of your sketchy coworkers offers you a bump of coke as an upper. Is coffee a gateway drug?

You’ve got a migraine. You take some acetaminophen, but your head still hurts. Your sister offers you some kind of pills that she got at a club last night to help. Is an OTC painkiller a gateway drug?

“Sunsets are pretty” is an opinion. “Cheese is delicious” is an opinion. “My favorite Italian food is Olive Garden” is an opinion. They are all subjective, personal statements that don’t try to make claims about reality.

“The Earth is flat”, “Australia doesn’t exist”, and “Cannabis is a gateway drug” are statements being presented as facts, and are also wrong. Adding a “in my opinion” to the end doesn’t make them any more valid.

pot is a gateway drug. They have to start somewhere and people do not start with the hard stuff first. Also pot is not a victimless crime. Just saying my opinion.

I have no qualms with the arrest for methamphetamine. I have no argument for the arrest for “spice”. I do have issues with the arrest for marijuana. The health benefits from this naturally occurring plant far outweigh any liabilities. Calling it a “gateway” drug is ridiculous and demonstrates the ignorance of our politicians. It is no more a gateway drug than beer is to hard liquor. I understand marijuana is still illegal. However, it is still a victimless crime, clogging our judicial system and jails.
