It will cost taxpayers about $0.07 each per year to house this guy. Personally, I think that’s a bargain when the alternative is allowing him to go free.

As a mother of a son, all I see in this is tragedy. To the mom who’s son was killed – I can’t image the pain of the loss. You are correct – healing will come through forgiveness but it won’t be easy. Praying for you –
To the mom of the man convicted – I can’t image the pain you bear especially knowing your other son is going to trial as well.
Only a mother can begin to comprehend the amount of pain these moms are bearing.
They aren’t the only moms – almost daily we read of another killing of a young man. The mothers in our community are hurting. May we be quick to offer encouragement, a kind word or a prayer. May we stop and realize we are all humans – with hearts that are broken.
To Fathers – I beg you, step up! Whether you are a dad at 18 or 38 – step up. Find a mentor. We all have to ‘learn’ to be parents – pick the right role models, seek wisdom and put forth the effort – the next generation needs you!

Life wasted. Now lookat him, as though “You got to be kidding me, I was just the driver”. Well you have about 70 years to think about it. And I hope some of these young men will wake up, and realize that violence is not the way to solve many problems. Parents you neeed to WAKE UP TO!!!!!! Our school is for our teachers to teach you children, not to raise them, and you make the teacher the victim.

Data from the State of Florida’s own website shows there are around 300 people on death row. The top 20 have been there over 42 years, have an average age of 70.5 years old, and an average age of 28 when they were sentenced to die. As you can see, they going to spend most of their life alive in Prison regardless of which sentence (death or life) they get.

The difference is the cost to the people of the State of Florida. It cost more to put inmates on death row because of how they are housed plus their legal fees for all those appeals that are filed are paid for by the State. People in prison for life do not get this benefit and have to foot the bill or right their own appears. An article I read a few years back stated the cost for Life in Prison to be, on average, about $1M while the cost to house a death row inmate was around $2M. And that was based on data from 5-10 years ago.

So, I have no issue with the State deciding to pocket the extra $1M and sentencing him to life.

Another body for us tax payers to take care of.
He doesn’t have freedom but he got more than some people with freedom.

Great job by our State Prosecutor! Justice was served for the Clardy family. Such a terrible loss of a promising future and precious son. Prayers for both families….senseless loss.
