Because people care about people even when they do stupid things.

We have all done stupid things and if we died every time we did, there would be no people. Admittedly, this kid should be old enough to know better but drugs enslave brains. That’s why my father smoked cigarettes as long as he did. He paid dearly for his addiction. I never tried to force him to stop, just reminded him of the cost he was paying.

to Dale: I totally agree with you. Not only that, I should add that everybody is aware that being overweight, let alone being grossly obese, is dangerous and it ruins their health. Hey Dale, have you seen Portland Oregon lately? Yeah they decriminalized drugs our there and now it is a dystopian nightmare. People are literally getting high on the sidewalk’s crime is rampant business are closing down left and right.

So you see they wont just “ruin their lives” they are going to ruin everyone around them as well.

This will make an interesting case for any defense lawyer. But, why not let these people ruin their lives? Darwin described their future well. Let them take themselves out of the gene pool. Everyone has been made aware of the dangers of drug use yet they still plunge head on into using. They keep on because they know someone will feel sorry for them and demand non users pay to repeatedly attempt to treat and rehab them . Yeah, it’s sad. But sadness serves as a warning to others.
