I don’t believe that Pits are in general, are anymore viscous than any other breed. The problem is the damage that they can inflict to the human body is massive. And, as with any other breed, not 100% predictable at all times.

I wish people would realize the number of attacks from dogs are much much more from German Shepard, chows, cane corso’s, etc etc. than any pits. Unfortunately the only ones you ever hear about is from lord because they already have a bad rep because of people and peoples negligence. Do your research people. We don’t need a breed legislation. That’s like saying because crime or murder we need a race legislation on white people or black people or Mexican people. That is just dumb. It isn’t all dogs, it isn’t a carry son breed, just like it isn’t certain races of people in a whole. Smh. When kids turn out to be criminals and murderers you need to look to how they were raised and the love they were shown etc growing up. Same with any animal. The way they are raised and love they were shown and how they were taught to be social and act right have a huuuge part in how they react to things. People are the problem.

Im so sorry thst msn lost his life to dogs who were trained to be very aggressive.I dont believe it is breed specific. The problem is the pitties are most often trained to be aggressive to protect the house or the meth that’s in it. I own a Doberman. I call her my velcro marshmallow. Everybody says she’s scared of people. No, I have never been nervous or frightened. Doberman are the only breed of dog that’s bred to be a personal protection. She yawns when I yawn, Sometimes, I would swear she reads my mind. But, State Farm will not insure me because I have a vicious breed. Also movies and television have perpetuated the “junkyard dog” myth.

I fully Understand peoples fears and frustratiins from people not not obeying the dog leash laws the county has in place , however laws are only as good as the people who are in charge of enforcing . Them and the people who are charged with the administation of the punishment for not obeying the laws ! Some people are going to say , because I don’t have dogs tha l have no horse in this race , however as aparent of younger childern years ago I had a similar situtarion with people letting their children walk their German Shepard off leash and the dog ran my 6yo, 3yo and 2yo children in the house from our own yard ! While alone at home with my Wife ! Whe I arrived home from work ( we at the time lived in a housing addition outside the city in Iniana ) I emideatly called the sheriff’s office and they sent a officer out , who went directly to the home of the parents ans explained if this happened again he would be bacj to not only shoot the dog even if he had to do . It in their driveway or yard ! PROBLEM SOLVED , FROM THEN ON DOG ALWy ON A LEASH !!!! JUST SAYING SOME TIMES IT JUST TAKES A LITTLE COOPERATION FROM AUTORITIES !!!!

It’s just too bad that it takes someone getting killed before any action is taken. I have known multiple people that have been attacked by dogs and nothing what so ever was done to the owners or the dogs. It’s the same situation with children. Sadly they can be endangered but until something horrible happened, nothing is done! CHANGE needs to happen!

Bill every dog bites even good ones that’s what God gave them teeth for. “Breed specific laws” will only create useless bloated bureaucracy and create discriminatory policies we don’t need more of that then we already have.

A more common-sense approach would be to make it so that law enforcement needs less of an excuse for taking someone’s animals. In this case instead of having to wait until someone is murdered (make no mistake that’s what she did to that man) maybe instead take her dogs after the second person was bit by same said dogs.

You want breed specific laws how about making it illegal to own iguanas or pythons here in Florida where they are wiping out native species left and right.

Pits are nice kind gentle and loving until….. then someone is injured or killed or children are torn apart like a ragdoll. I agree with Bill time to get rid of the breed for the safety of all.

I love dogs and animals in general. However, some dogs no matter how well the owner tries to train and contain them, are prone to be more aggressive than others. These dogs in particular are not bread for pets and should not be allowed anymore. I know many people will speak the opposite, but I have had a small child I knew attacked by a pit bull who was told by the ow er to be a big “baby” and the child was just standing next to his grandpa at the owners house. Not bothering the dog or even running around playing. Just standing there. The dog jumped on him and nearly broke his neck grabbing him on the back of it and slinging him around. Needless to say the dog was quarantined and eventually put down. People please be responsible pet owners. And when I see pictures of babies lying next to pit bulls I just cringe.
