All the precautions in the world cannot prevent accidents. Humans are more and more distracted by the ever advancing technology and sometimes equipment malfunctions. Bollards are a good idea in certain places- but to mandate that they have to shield all businesses and public buildings?

Those pipe and concrete “things” are called bollards. They are intended to be a barrier to prevent vehicle entry. When installed correctly, they work extremely well. They also do not inhibit pedestrian traffic flow. Why they are not mandated by the state is beyond me.
