From what I’ve seen “security officers” get walked over since they can’t uphold the law. I’m guessing the county isn’t looking to monitor the hallways for kids running wild. But for criminal activities like drugs and weapons. That takes a deputy not a mall cop with deputy training. The pay would be about the same but I’m sure the school board doesn’t want the sheriffs department in control. Remember when they wanted to pull resource officers because of budget issues.
