The old park was really something special, I have to admit. The structure was a community build park, with many many volunteers doing the construction, including about one hundred young Marines from NAS. Hurricane Ivan wiped out the old Monsanto Park. It had the most amazing sliding board. The “old” park was badly damaged by Hurricane Sally, and the wooden structure required a LOT of maintenance to keep it safe for the kids.

My kids loved that park and so did I. Now it looks like another park it not special anymore.
