I pulled a gun and was told by 3 officers that showed up that if they would have come in my house and I shot them I would have been arrested unless they had a deadly weapon on them. Her son was 100% justified in his actions. if someone breaks into your home then you absolutely have a right to protect yourself and or your family by whatever means that may be. Had the son shot Mr. Boyette it would have resulted in the same outcome. Mr. Boyette is fully aware of the possibilities and risk involved for breaking into a persons house and doing as he did especially at his age. He knew what kind of danger he was putting himself in but chose to do it anyways. weather he went into that house armed or not makes no difference in the way the homeowner protects their family and themselves. I myself don't believe to many people are going to take time to wait and see if the intruder is armed or unarmed before taking action, nor should they. You might know Mr Boyette to be a harmless person but the homeowner clearly doesn't know Mr Boyette nor he know them. Imagine that being your mother's home would you still feel the same way? I highly doubt it. If you break in a persons home for any reason that is the risk you are taking. Mr Boyette should consider himself very lucky. hopefully it will make him think twice about doing it again. next time he might not be so lucky. @sheila

Back then, we called you by another name. That bright eyed, optimistic young man is still in there. We all make mistakes. So, there is no judgement. Just remember the lessons we learned from Mr. Garrison, Mr. Mackey and all the others. Keep dancing your dance, brother. But, only if you want to. However, some so-called friends should be left behind. Their lack of dancing means that they are, simply, no friends of mine. Whenever you’re back in SP, look me up.
