We'd have a mass exodus from the country every presidential election. Our system is meant to have power change between parties. Shutting out people who have different opinions helps no one. That's the mindset that greatly contributed to the division in our country now. We need to think for ourselves, engage with a diversity of people, and stop listening to ANY politician who tries to divide us by making disparaging remarks against ANY group of people. If your electric bill has "doubled" as you claim, you need to look at your energy consumption as the price per Kilowatt Hour (KWH) has not doubled. Gulf Power and FPL began their merger in December 2018. The total Kilowatt (KWH) rate for energy and fuel cost was 10.880 cents per KWH. This rate had been effect since March 2018. In January 2021 the merger of Gulf Power into the "Next Era" umbrella was fully completed. The rate at that time was a total of 11.790 cents per KWH. In January 2022 the Gulf Power name was eliminated as Gulf Power was fully integrated in the FPL system. Keep in mind during this merger period 4 rate changes occurred in the 45 months from March 2018 until January 2022. In January 2022, the rate increased to 14.262 cents per KWH or an increase of 2.472 cents per KWH from the January 2021 rate. As such, a bill could not have "doubled" without an increase in actual energy consumption. Consider this, in the 45 months from March 2018 until January 2022 the cost of energy climbed 3.382 cents per KWH. This increase doesnt seem excessive to me. In fact, my ECUA bill, my Cable bill, my Energy Services of Pensacola bill and my property tax bill, my grocery costs all have increased by similar (or more) percentage basis than my bill with FPL.
