Just as “Mother” said know one on this comment thread was there. I lost control of my vehicle on this curve a few years ago. It wasn’t because I was going to fast, or because I was texting.. It was because I had a tire that was low on air that I wasn’t aware of and it caused my car to lose control. Luckily, I was able to stop before hitting anything or anyone. But my point being, stop judging when you dont know. This young mans family is grieving enough and should not have to deal with people being disrespectful on top of that.

Before writing a comment please think about the families of the individual who was lost in this vitality. As I was not there and I would presume none of you were either we cannot know exactly why this individual lost control. It’s a 19 year old boy that his mother and father no longer have I think about how your comments make them feel what if this were your child rest in peace young man

It’s not the curve, or the car. It’s a lack of knowing HOW to drive.

Any modern car can take that curve drama free if you know how to drive.
This means being able to sense what the front and rear tires are doing, and what to do to influence this.

It’s understanding oversteer and understeer. It’s using the throttle to control the attitude of the car. Hitting the brakes is often the worst thing you can do.

This is a decreasing radius curve, and that’s the part that trips people up. The radius of the curve gets tighter as you are coming around and heading back southwestward.

My heart truly goes out to this young man’s relatives and friends. However this accident did not have to happen. I travel this entrance to I-10 on a regular basis. It is true that this can be a dangerous curve, but if everyone would drive it at the speed which is plainly posted there is no danger at all, and wear your seat belts while driving and riding in your motor vehicle. The bottom line is simply this: obey all the traffic laws and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
