You’re right. We do. We, collectively as a country decided in 2020 that we no longer liked the way our government was being run and decided to use our votes to demand a peaceful transition of power to a different party.

If you voted for Trump in 2020, you’re in the minority. Heck, the election wasn’t even close.

But using threats and acts of violence to overturn a free, fair, democratic election because you decided that you don’t like the results and want to enforce your will on your neighbors? That doesn’t make you a patriot. It makes you a terrorist and a traitor to the principles our country was founded on.

Wouldn’t it be foolish to vandalize our own property? If we “own” it collectively, who pays to repair the damage caused by only some of us? How is dissatisfaction or anger any justification? Nearly every day, often in articles on this site, we see examples of adults who cannot control their anger and beat women, shoot their neighbors, etc. Seems we have lots of immature adults who never learned self control or how to resolve conflict in constructive ways. We need to stop making differences in opinions reasons for violence and hateful speech. Our government was meant to bend to one side and then to the other. It has worked for hundreds of years. Sadly, instead of learning from history, there are those among us who would hide it.

Taxpayers also “own” schools, libraries, parks, etc. Does that give us a “right” to break in or vandalize a school because we disagree with a teacher or principal, set fire to a library because it contains a book we might feel is inappropriate, or tear down a concession stand because our order was wrong. What has happened to responsibility??? I wonder if “adults” who deny truth are the same ones who are willing to cheat so their kid’s team can “win” a tee ball game. It’s frightening and sad that we are giving credence to a minority of our population that seems to have the mindset that the end justifies the means.

@Sam, they were on a tour? How many tours have you been on where you break down barriers, doors, windows? Where you break into offices? The building, usually open for tours, was closed for the validating of the votes. Therefore, they definitely weren’t “on a tour” and definitely shouldn’t have been inside.

This guy betrayed his country and joined a violent mob with the intent of stopping the peaceful transition of power and installing a dictator.

“But what about BLM” yeah, there were some rioters that used the BLM protests as an excuse to riot and commit arson. They should absolutely be arrested (and many of them were).

Seriously, if we can’t even agree that “committing treason is bad”, then our country is truly lost.
