So, $10,000+/month (give or take). I can’t see that amount of theft happening at the window- more like the back office. However the manager accomplished his crime, it will be an excellent learning tool for corporate. Maybe McDonald’s would allow him to pay back his $100,000 debt by working for 1/2 his salary up in Chicago, I hear they’re desperate for managers. $100,000+ embezzled in 10 months. Therefore the ownership is worried if they complain about leadership or service the manager will leave. In this case that would have been better. I work in retail whenever a return is done it needs a two signatures and if an associate has above average returns it is investigated. He probably felt he was “owed” that because of all the extra work he put in. My husband worked with an assistant manager at a Pizza Hut years ago who traded out pizzas with different people/businesses in exchange for free drinks at a bar, car repairs and other stuff. They may have done a quarterly/yearly audit and noticed the location was suddenly hemorrhaging money. I bet this guy never thought of audits /accounting. Outside his realm of thought.
