Not quite right.

“The oil delivered to the reserve is “royalty-in-kind” oil—royalties owed to the U.S. government by operators who acquire leases on the federally owned Outer Continental Shelf in the Gulf of Mexico. These royalties were previously collected as cash, but in 1998 the government began testing the effectiveness of collecting royalties “in kind”—or in other words, acquiring the crude oil itself.”

So, it wasn’t bought with money but taken instead of money and will be replaced the same way.

Biden is draining the strategic oil reserve in order to keep oil prices stable. This oil, purchased years ago for around $25/barrel will have to be replaced at current prices. This will do two things: reduce the amount of crude available for consumer use and at the same time the price of fuel will go up again. This winter will see high prices for heating oil diesel, gas jet fuel and all those consumer products made from petroleum, like plastics and fertilizer for example.

Yellarhammer is correct. Might as well let the issue rest and talk about gas and other price increases again after the November election ! Biden is just a paper tiger – it’s the people behind him that are dangerous

Or even the people buying the gasoline. The companies want as much money coming in as possible. They are not unified in setting prices. If they charge too much, people go elsewhere. They are constantly trying to balance the conflict.

Either that or there is some vast conspiracy involving thousands of companies, millions of conspirators, and dozens of nations.

Maybe, just maybe, gas prices are being set by the gas companies that have an incentive to charge as much as possible and posted record profits last quarter.
