Both on ramps going west at Hwy 29 are dangerous! The on ramps are not long enough to merge with traffic going 70 plus MPH.
The northern on ramp has so much brush neither driver can see traffic until time to merge! That area gets cleaned out once every 5 years.
That would help so much, but no one listens to the suggestions. Please clean out that area, so that the ones on I10 and the ones on the ramp can see each other and get prepared.

@ Ali – the merge you’re speaking of isn’t even where this happened. It’s not dangerous there at all if you’re paying attention.

Trying to merge onto I10 from Davis Hwy going west bound is so dangerous. Whoever designed this did an extremely poor job. I am surprised there aren’t more accidents in that area.

As far as over 40 cars, it’s because people that were driving behind impact could not slow down in time which means they were following too close. We all have to give enough space between cars so when something like this happens, we have time to slow down and move or stop.

@Beulah Gal – the accident happened before the OFFramp at I10 W to 29N and before the oncoming ramp from 29N. It happened just under the old Palafox overpass. Neither ramp had anything to do with the accident. I drove over it on Palafox and saw the front of it.

DF, I think what Ratt is talking about is how if you want to go west on I-10 and you’re getting on from Highway 29, you are merging from the left, instead of the right as you do on most other on-ramps. Depending on your car and passenger, it can be harder to see the oncoming traffic, and many oncoming cars won’t move into the right lane.

The only concussion I can see and understand is people must pay more attention to the road !!! They got everything going on when they are driving except driving!!! Cell phones are a distraction!!! I see it all the time !!! Look if it’s that important stop do your phone business then drive or use hands free but best to wait when you can concentrate on the driving and road!!! None of this seems important until you get into a wreck !!!! Then all of a sudden it is so very important !!! Funny how that works!!! Slow down be respectful of others it’s the best way to arrive alive

very sad everyone is in such a hurry the bottom line is alot of folks moving here drive to fast and are very rude on the highways. another thing is I am retired after many years making deliveries to stores and to see these truckers sitting still can’t make there stops many miles to go and many layovers meaning can’t get home to family ? look out folks when you go to the store your food and many other things will not be there. to many moving to north west Florida and the hurricanes are about to start it’s going to be a nightmare like in a movie. so brace yourself and enjoy your ride. end of story
