I go to the outside of the home put on gloves reach in there and pull out the lent ( cotton ) the birds will clean up your mess they use it to make a nest nice and cozy they will sing to you later. one other thing is touch the side of your dryer while it’s drying clothes let it run at least 30 minutes if it seems to hot for your hand clean out your vent . I had to replace the drum belt on mine it was like $26 bucks. kinda tricky to getting it on there can cut your arm and hands real easy.

You can also use a leaf blower to clean them out remove dryer and insert leaf blower in where the dry connects to the flex and blow it out that way the leaf blower creates more air pressure than the dry and it works well

Debbie, very true people don’t realize that flex vent hose will stop up especially in the turns. Easy way to tell is when it keeps taking longer and longer to dry the clothes. I also learned like you many years ago.

A lot of people don’t know you need to clean the dryer vents out I’m surprised there’s not more vent fires . I had to call a dryer repair man out about 25 years ago and after he fixed the main problem he called me back there and showed me how to clean mine out. I was shocked how much lent was coming out of mine . The lines were only a couple of years old by then . They sell a brush on a long rod that works real good at cleaning them. Turn your dryer on cool air and run while you’re cleaning to blow it all out . Takes 5 min.
