Myself and family have traveled 164 daily for 20 years. In that time we’ve lost 4 mirrors to identical crashes. Complaints to the county have done no good. I believe if northescambia.com could do a search of their archives, I believe they would find an article written by William maybe 6 or 8 years ago, that said Hwy 164 was to be widened and resurfaced quite some time ago. That never happened. I’ve measured the road myself and found widths of 16’- 18’, including the large potholes on both sides that are not traversable. That’s not nearly enough to pass opposing traffic safely, considering your average bus or truck is 8.5’ wide.

William, can you do all us north end folks a favor and repost that article? Maybe then the county will take notice of the dangerous condition we all face daily? Not to mention our children traveling to and from Northveiw High School?

Keep these, and other, road conditions in mind when ‘The Politicians’ are trying to Lower Fuel Taxes. It is the State & Federal income from those taxes that goes to pay for road and highway (including Interstates) construction and maintenance.
Fewer tax dollars and less road work.

Iam not one bit surprised, hwy 99 is the same way the school buses have to get off the edge of the Rd when they meet somebody, I don’t understand why the county don’t widen it or pave the shoulder. I guess there waiting for a bus to loose control and roll so it looks serious enough. I don’t have children that ride the bus but if I did I think I would be talking!!!

I had the same experience on my bus meeting with a county work truck a few years back, about the same place. Both of us on our side of the road with wheels at the very edge of the pavement but mirrors meeting past the center line for each of us.

After that, I pulled off the road since I figured they were going to hit me if I didn’t.

Please repave and widen the road! Not only is it narrow, but the edges of the road are full of holes. Pulling a trailer down 164 past another vehicle is down right sporty.

So are they going to widen the road after 2 collides within a few weeks it does need to be widening
