This is done to better protect Florida. No one will be able to call them out of state. They will only be use to help and support other Floridians. Never have to go north to risk life and limb in a riot, I would think this would appeal to alot of folks wanting to do more for their home state. And thank you to our great governor. He won’t ever be able to please everyone, to some political lines are more important than life lines.

Well, he has been so successful at banning all that pesky critical race theory being taught in elementary school and using our money to bring lawsuit after lawsuit that are lost, then appealed and then lost again. And he was so helpful with the Skanska bridge issue.

Hope he lets the locals have control. The National Guard really has their disaster response down pat.

Ridiculous. This is just another power play by the wannabe dictator DeSantis to show his minions how “macho” he is. He already controls the Florida National Guard–remember? He sent them to Texas during hurricane season to stick it to the feds.

And why is experience in “military style operations” a requirement for disaster response? Just think of the howls of protest if a Democrat governor was instituting this redundant boondoggle that reeks of a police state.

So now DeSantis has an armed force in place to “watch over” state elections and another armed force for emergency response. Maybe Ron should send the election police to The Villages where all of the Republicans voting multiple times for trump have been arrested.
Someone is drunk with power and wasting our money in Tallahassee…

Ohio has had this for decades. I was a member there. We also assisted in emergency situations. Ie: blizzards, fliods; riots etc. Most of the time we assisted by collecting food to be distributed to those in need and toys for children etc.
It made us better people. Today people will cry about anything. Carry on Governor
