I am so sorry for the one loss of life. Thank goodness for the Tom Thumb’s sign otherwise the semi could’ve ended up next to the gas pumps causing a fire. God was looking after those involved and Tom Thumb’s customers and employees, Prayers for the families and friends of those involved.

This type accident is caused by either simply not seeing the on coming vehicle or, more usually, mis judging the on coming speed of the southbound vehicle and the time it takes to cross the intersection. The angle of this left turn is much longer than some people think. Simple fix for this is to make it a left turn on arrow only. As far as comments from told you so, before the light, there were wrecks there almost every day. How does the light give you a false sense of security anyway?

@ we told u so…I so agree with you….it seems like every single week there’s a wreck there…..#1 they need to put no turn on red..#2, no u turns…because they (u) turn to get into that store and another thing that scares me is when people turn on to 97 from 29 they stop all of a sudden to turn into the tom thumb..I dont know how they need to fix it but they need to go back and rearrange something there to make it safer….praying for all that was involved in this wreck…but so sad it happened….

I disagree. I was thrilled when the light was added. I go through that intersection 4 times a day, every weekday. Making the left from 97 to northbound 29 was a nightmare. FHP needs to spend some time near there, ticketing the people who fly up and down both roads. They’ve been more visible the last 2 weeks, but its still crazy.

So many of us opposed this traffic light because we knew accidents and more serious accidents would still happen. This light provides a false sense of safety and now and again and again this is what happens. Traffic signals in proper locations prevent many accidents, traffic lights also sometimes cause more and worse accidents.

this light needs to work the same every time the turn arrow for north bound to turn on 97 sometimes you get a green arrow and sometimes you don’t. we need a yellow arrow that is flashing when north and south bound are green .My condolences to the and Prayers to the Family . Milton A
