The only north/south section of Gulf Beach Hwy is between the light at the west end of Bayou Grande ( This is where Sorrento starts and Gulf Beach Hwy turns left) and Blue Angel Parkway just outside NAS west gate.

Gulf Beach Hwy is an east/west highway, But, some sections run north/south.

Paul M Gerow The end results are East and West. But some sections travel in a northernly direction. So, it is possible to travel north on an east/west highway.
