A sobering reminder that climate change usually snakebite season is normally April-October
Glad they kept him overnight.

I was bit in 2012 and west Florida hospital didn’t even clean the wound and sent me home within minutes, told me I had a “dry bite,” unfortunately I woke up in the middle of the night in hypovolemic shock . I was alone and without access to cell coverage, in a remote area and too weak to seek help. I struggled until I could get to a country doctor and was treated. Turned out significant amount of viper venom it’s a wonder I lived and was left with kidney damage

Yes, very strange this time of year. We have names for the snakes in our yard that have cute little round eyes, all others, we have Jack Russells.

Wouldn’t take too long to sit down and learn what type of poisonous snakes inhabit N.W. Florida. Like @A Alex said many non-poisonous snakes are very beneficial. Maybe use it as a teaching moment for your kids if they play unsupervised outside.

Killing all snakes is really a blind eye to your health. Your rat snakes and corn snakes will kill poisonous snakes to do away their compitition. Not to mention they eat rats and mice that eats your house and car wires. But its your choice
