Florida has higher gas prices than Alabama and Mississippi, because Florida has a gas tax but no food tax. Alabama and Mississippi have both a gas and food tax that cost more than what we pay in Florida. So it may seem like we in Florida are paying more but if you factor in food taxes and wage taxes, Florida citizens are much better off. Our gas tax also goes directly into keeping the roads up.

You obviously don’t realize that a large portion of that price is taxes that the state and County charges charges. We don’t pay a state income tax and benefit from all the tourist coming here to pay into that gas tax. That’s what helps keep us from paying a state income tax. Besides you have the opportunity to vote on the county gas taxes that have been levied. Alabama and Mississippi are in fact poorer but look at the taxes they pay vs what we don’t. Research is your friend.

Just imagine what the cost of gas would be without us tax payers subsidizing it. No one disagrees that the current administration is crap, but Biden doesn’t own the oil companies. Those are private businesses funded by subsidies setting their own prices. Supply/demand plays a role as well. It’s funny that when gas prices dip, nobody is thanking Biden on here, but when prices go up, everyone and their mother is quick to assign blame to the Biden.

Between the Federal govt and State govt and City/County govt there’s lots of Tax. The basic cost ( before taxes) is market driven and oil producer driven. Over the next 42 years we’ll (the world) be out of Oil. To say the clock is ticking would be an understatement. Then what will we do ? I went out of country a couple years ago and saw only one pick-up truck and it was a tiny little VW.. Are the French (Europe) smarter than us ?

Joe, Miss has low gas prices, but they pay tax on groceries and drugs. Al is about what Floridas is and the pay tax on groceries and drugs. Get your facts straight. It always evens out, Do you think a Democratic government could do anything about it, no they can’t tie their shoes without raising taxes.
