I didn’t say they were perfected yet. The thing is, they will get better and better and we humans will still be mere humans — we won’t get much better.

“But we are not test drivers”

But we face a test everytime we drive. Failure is always an unpleasant option, no matter how many we passed in the past.

But we are not test drivers..but, as far as under reporting…because of insurance deductibles helping people decide..if it’s worth reporting.
A terrible wreck like this though…terrible.
There will always be DUI issues. you can start the death penalty for DUI..people today have lost the value of human life..on many levels.
If it’s not alcohol, its drugs,cellphones etc..
We are a severely flawed lot.

AV test drivers mandatorily self-report every crash, whereas average drivers underreport minor accidents, thereby skewing the statistics.

Also, AV’s are in their infancy, although Telsa’s FSD shows great promise.

Me and my wife passed this wreck on the way home, we both got a bone chilling feeling about it and could’ve sworn we thought people were killed in the wreck. The fact that he got out on a $1,000 bail is absolutely ridiculous. Couldn’t care less about this scumbag, just glad that the children/other occupants were okay, you shouldn’t be able to get out for a DUI.

I totally agree that every person accused of a crime deserves their day in court. The problem with this situation is he was probably given a breathalyzer test at the scene. If this is the case and he failed it, his day in court is just a formality. Driving while under the influence is very serious. It is more than just making a mistake. He put other people’s lives at risk for his own selfish reason. And God forbid, had someone died he would be facing vehicular homicide, and an innocent family would be morning the loss of a loved one simply because he made a bad decision, not a mistake. He made a very bad choice and willfully put innocent people at risk and for that he should have received more than $1000 bail. Yes, we have laws to protect people from excessive bail, but we also have laws that are supposed to protect the public from people who make bad, and selfish decisions.
